Having read all the Cosmere books, something that stands out to me is how important the events of Mistborn Era 1 are on a Cosmere-wide scale. Unlike something like the Stormlight Archive, however, where the Cosmere implications are worn on the sleeve, the implications in E1 Mistborn is much more subtle and mysterious.
