It's hard. All engineering is hard. If you can get A's and B's in AP classes you certainly have the intellectual capacity, if that's what you're asking. Naturally, the role of intelligence in being a successful student is usually overstated. You're going to have to work hard, but if you enjoy it, it won't suck.

Overall good post but not 100% exactly true. A lot of the big oil and gas companies start interviewing in January and February. Personally, I applied in October or November for some companies and received an interview invite for BP's I&E Safety Process summer internship in January. Why not just withdraw from senior design, pass your other classes, then retake one class next semester. Then you'll only end up having to pay like $3-5k instead of $13k.
